Sony Home Theater System Shorts At High Volume, Why?

My Sony Dream System (FR 1, I think) shorts at times stronger if the volume is about 20 years or more. I then unplug it and plug it in. I can stop selling if I keep the volume low, but it is too quiet. Ideas?
